The Exquisite Corpse

The Surrealists reportedly enjoyed a drawing game they called "The Exquisite Corpse," in which one artist would start a drawing and fold the paper to hide what was already drawn, pass it on to the second artist who would add to the drawing and again fold the paper to hide the newest part AND the original part of the drawing, and then pass it on to a third artist who would do the same.  When done, the paper was unfolded revealing a strange, collaborative drawing by three or four artists.  Oh, those wacky Surrealists.

During the past month or so, my little Tricollage Group (myself, Sabine Remy of Germany and Josephine Wicherts of Holland) has created a series of Exquisite Corpse-style folded collages.  We each did a "starter" with one section collaged on the background, and then folded or papered over our section and passed it on.  The three I started have just returned home to me, and here's what I found when I unfolded each of these little surprises:
