...but I finally finished my artist's book about growing up nuclear. This is a big ole heavy book (13" x 13" x 2") and I had fun adding canvas straps, studs, rusty metal letters, etc. to make it look nicely industrial. The book was inspired by conversations four or five years ago with my daughters, who wondered what it was like to grow up with the threat of nuclear annihilation looming over your head. It documents the inception of the nuclear age, beginning with the secret race to develop a devastating bomb through the arms race with Russia and the Cuban Missile Crisis, all as seen through the eyes of a little girl growing up in a small town called [yes, really] "Opportunity."
