Pandora's Box
In Greek mythology, Pandora was the first woman on earth. She was given many gifts by the gods: clothes, beauty, speech, musical ability. Pandora is accused of introducing evil into the world, by opening the lid to a large jar (classically, but apparently mistakenly, described as a "box"), thereby releasing all the evils and ill-mannered things it contained into the world. She managed to close the lid in time to keep one thing...hope.
The faces are haunting....their color is the same shade as some of the insect wings. But I'm guessing you knew that!
